Franz Ferdinand!
They were amazing, well, let's start where everything should start...at the start.
We got to Edinburgh about ten past six and joined the back of an endless queue. As the gates opened at six, the queue didn't take long to go down and in less that fifteen minutes, we were inside the Gardens. Much to my surprise, they had closed off all the Gardens and you were only allowed in if you had a ticket to see Franz.
As me and my mate, Jamie, had got there, fairly early (compared to most people), we oicked a space to stand near the front. It was about five or so meters away from the front and as the standing area was on a slope, it was pretty easy to see the stage.
After about an hour, the support band, Ladytron came onstage. I was really looking forward to seeing them as I had heard some mp3s and I was one step to becoming a 'fan' of them. I just had to see them live first! - They came onstage and they were pretty good. They weren't great and they weren't excellent, they were just averagely alright.
After about half an hour, the stage got a makeover and was transformed into something that looked amazingly like a tv studio or something. It was all just amazingly great. About fifteen minutes and a Queen sing-a-long later, Franz took to the stage with the Doctor Who Theme Tune and kicked into the action with "Michael." I wasn't really surprised at that because I had seen them at Christmas 2004 and they did exactly the same thing.
After a good dose of new songs and old songs, Alex introduced us to Take Me Out with the lines "This song was made famous by Jimmy Logan, ninety years ago..." then the kicked into Take Me Out.
They finished the set of with a three song encore, ending with This Fire, which always goes down a treat!
All in all, it was an amazing gig!
